“A room without books is like a house without windows”. Library is considered as the nucleus of the academic activities. The intellectual pursuit in any academic institution will certainly be affected by inadequacy of library facilities. Considering this view in the year 1998, library started functioning only with 240 books covering area of 1200 sq. ft. having sitting capacity of 60 persons. Umiya Arts and Commerce College Library exist to support undergraduate and post graduate teaching and research in the field of Arts and Commerce. Having a specialized collection in the area of Arts And Commerce and its allied areas, library pursue higher value of knowledge, creativity, wisdom and empowers its users to be connected with literature published/available in the field through its collection and networks.

Umiya Arts and Commerce College for Girls Library is committed to providing quality service and an excellent collection of materials to support the mission & goals, educational and research needs of students, faculty and staff in support of the college for diverse curriculum.

Vision

The library is the heart of UACCG’s intellectual ambitions and the first source for information where student’s needs are library’s to priority, faculty find the resources essential for their teaching and researches, and students graduate with the realization that the library is indispensable.

Library Membership

Library membership is extended to all students, faculty members and staff upon joining the institute, without any enrollment fees. The Alumni too can continue usage of library with only Rs. 200/- p.a.as fees.

During academic day - 7:30am to 6:00pm, 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Vacation - 7:30am to 1:00pm

Rules and Regulations

  • Library timing : 7:30am - 5:30pm & 8:00pm - 10:00pm
  • Library remains open on Sunday
  • Students are allowed to Library only on production of their authorized college ID cards
  • No personal belongings and text books allowed inside the library
  • Enter your name and sign in the entrance register kept at the entrance counter while using the library
  • Strict silence and discipline should be maintained and no group study allowed inside the library
  • Using mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library premises
  • Books will be issued on to the library card holder for a period of 14 days. On 15th day onward a fine of fine of Rs.1/- per day will be levied for overdue books
  • Books for overnight can be issued and Rs. 5/- is charged for late submission
  • Books should be handled with care. Marking on the books, tearing pages etc are most objectionable and may lead to initiation of stringent disciplinary action on the member
  • If a book is lost or damaged by anyone, the cost of the book is to be paid by the concerned person
  • Issuance of library books is limited to one book per student
  • Borrowed books are non-transferable and a borrower shall remain responsible for material issued to him/ her until it is returned.
  • Reference books, journals and magazines are only for consultation within the library and are not to be taken out of library premise
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately
  • Users should obey the library rules and regulations. Violation of rules and any act of misbehavior to the library staff will lead to strong disciplinary action
